YOU can make a difference!
The Colorado Medical Society needs the knowledge and professional expertise that Connection members can offer to medicine.
Please review the many opportunities available to you at CMS and contact CMS staffer Diana Protopapa at 720.858.6315 who can connect you to your area of interest.
Medical Practice Advocacy
The Health Care Financing division works to help Colorado physicians enhance the economic viability of their practice. Connection members interested in this goal will serve on task forces and advisory councils whose aim is to identify and rectify concerns, including managed care contracting issues that affect the ability to have a successful practice.
Community Health
Each month, CMS collaborates with 9News to provide the public free access to health advice from physicians while simultaneously raising the profile of CMS in the community. Connection members who want to advance this program will develop each month’s Doctor Line 9” topic to be discussed and coordinate with physicians interested in participating.
Legislative Advocacy and Political Action
The Public Affairs Division advocates for medicine within the legislative/regulatory arena. This division is responsible for creating and implementing the political strategy and messaging necessary to enact pro medicine, pro patient policy and laws. Connection members who are interested in working on strategy, messaging and research would enjoy participating in the Public Affairs operations.
Communications
The Communications Division is responsible for all internal and external outreach for CMS messaging, including the CMS bi-monthly magazine, Colorado Medicine, ASAP emails and media relations as well as the coordination of member benefits. This division welcomes Connection members who have writing and customer service skills.
Health Care Policy
The Health Care Policy Division is develops policy related to the CMS’ policy priorities like comprehensive health care reform, evidence based medicine, health information technology, rural and public health issues and more. Interested Connection members who have knowledge of specific policy issues can participate in the various councils and committees that counsel the division staff on those issues. Additionally, the division has numerous projects where Connection members can contribute their writing and or project management skills.
